Everyone packs their bags differently, and everyone has different definitions of what’s needed and not needed on the trail. This is a detailed list of what I normally carry on an 2-3 day backpacking trip.

Brunton 2090g Compass

Outdoor Recreation Group Ultimate Drysack (as food bag)

Medical Kit consisting of moleskin, liquid bandage spray, medical tape, ace bandage, band aids, Ibuprofen, tweezers, alcohol pads, antibiotic ointment, etc

Picaridin bug spray

Chapstick

Platypus 2 liter bottle, and 1 liter bottle

Sawyer Squeeze Water Filter with backup katadyn water tablets.

Marmot Precip Rain Jacket

Columbia Rain Pants

Light My Fire Firestarter

Sometimes, I will also carry A Thermarest Z-seat, or Byers Easy Traveler Hammock if conditions are right.
