The CARBO 10000 is a A 10,000 mAh battery bank with fast changing capabilities tucked into a lightweight carbon fiber shell. At just 6 ounces, it’s a lightweight, impressively well built portable powerhouse. My review:
The CARBO 10,000 is designed to be an ultra-light, tough, portable power source. It is constructed from a carbon fiber shell with magnesium alloy heat sinks for enhanced heat dissipation to allow faster than average charging. It has a 10,000 mAh lithium ion battery cell inside and features two USB C ports (one input and both can output). It is IPX8 rated, weighs just 6 oz (170 grams) and retails for $120.

So, is this thing worth it? I’ve been using it for a couple of months now. It’s lightweight, durable, and dead simple to use. A quick tap wakes it up and it’s ready to power any tablets, phones, headlamps, or any other low powered device. It can be charged while other devices are plugged into it like a daisy chain, which is super handy. The magnesium alloy heat sink not only looks cool on the surface but it also helps the power bank dissipate heat and charge faster, which is very helpful if you’re always on the go and need to charge as fast as possible. I’ve found that it stays cool to the touch and has worked flawlessly, even in chilly conditions (I tested to about 50 degrees, which seems reasonable for this type of device). I came away very impressed with the weight of the unit, especially considering the 10,000 mAh rating it provides. The lightweight build makes it relatively easy to carry in a pocket, small backpack or a purse. I somewhat wish the device had a single USB-A port, because it would have been useful to me a couple times now, but I think including dual USB-C instead is the way forward. It’s time to leave USB-A behind. My only real complaint is the cost. At $120 it isn’t cheap, but that isn’t the point either. This is designed to be cutting edge, lightweight, and incredibly durable, and you have to pay for those high-end materials. So, I am actually O.K. with this as the benefits are numerous. Any user who needs a lot of extra power without the extra bulk or weight would be willing to pay for it in my eyes. Nitecore also offers cheaper options that will get the job done without much of a weight penalty, which I’ve also covered in the past.
Overall, it’s a high end product that performs very well. It’s compact, lightweight, and performs great in the field. If the needs are durability, and high capacity, and lightweight, then this is a solid option.
