The new Nemo Nocturne sleeping bags just showed up, and they’re looking great. Normally I just wait until I do my vigorous testing to post a review, but I’ll have to wait a while to properly test the sleeping bag in the appropriate temperatures (15 degrees) here in Tennessee. That being said, I’m pretty excited about this sleeping bag now, so I thought I would post some quick initial impressions until I’m able to give it a proper review. Ah, that new sleeping bag smell.
Quick impressions
Overall, the sleeping bags (I have two here) feel amazing. The materials are soft and silky, and the loft is fantastic. Thanks to the 700 fill down (very light and lofty)It almost feels like the down is floating above my body. The sleeping bag is wide in all the right places, being the hips and the shoulders. This gives you a lot of room to wiggle around and maneuver inside the sleeping bag. If you sleep anything like myself (something akin to the spin cycle of my laundry machine), you’ll appreciate the roominess inside. I can’ t find a position I can’t lay in, except for spread eagle.
Aesthetically, they’re quite please. A bit shiny actually, so it gives it that futuristic vibe that they deserve. I’m a big fan of green, so having the hint around the collar adds just enough flare to make it stand out. The twisting baffles (stated to promote heat flow throughout the bag) also add some uniqueness to the design.
The large draft collar, or min-quilt, is a nice touch. Giving you just a bit of that still home in bed sensation I’m such a big fan of. It can be manipulated around enough to allow for more or less air flow around the face, which will come in handy on those cold nights, hiding away from the frigid air.
It’s light weight, came with a great storage sack(cotton! Yay for biodegradability), and even a small stuff sack for the trail.
I’m anxious to drag it out into the mountains, but for now it’s a bit too hot for this one. Look forward to a full review this fall.
