‘Well Told’ Debuts National Park Themed Insulated Tumblers

Well Told has launched a new line of insulated tumblers and water bottles engraved with maps, topography, and of course, National Parks to help you reminisce about those epic journeys.

Well Told actually makes a very wide array of products, mostly centered around drinkware. They have bottles, wine glasses, and as you surely noticed by now, tumblers. I was lucky enough to have them send me a custom tumbler engraved with the perimeter of one of my favorite Nation Parks, Acadia, etched into the side of it. Here are my thoughts:

They design and engrave their tumblers, bottles and other drinkware in the USA, while most of the hardware itself is imported from China. Everything is packaged in recyclable material, which I am a huge fan of, and they have an eco-friendly design studio, which does make a difference. Of course, the biggest boon is the use of durable stainless steel, which with the proper care and hand washing can last for absolute decades, except for maybe the lid but those are easily replaceable and the tumbler works just fine without them anyway. I couldn’t find much info on how eco-friendly their manufacturing was, but they did mention they utilize manufacturers who seek to minimize waste.

I quite like the feel of the material overall, with the outer surface of the steel having a slightly textured powder coat that doesn’t slip or feel abrasive. I haven’t dropped it yet, but the durability feels quite good. Looking closely, you can actually see the machining marks within the engraving, which I actually enjoy, and it shows that the coating is rather thick and burly. It’s always possible to chip the coating away if dropped, but hand washing it and careful use should go a long way to prevent any damage. The lid is of typical quality, middle of the road, but works just fine and does mediate spills in the event that the tumbler is turned over.

This particular bottle is triple wall vacuum sealed, has a nicely sealed removable cap with a spill resistant slide, and holds 16 ounces of hot or cold liquid. It weighs .8 lbs., and retails for $30. The company provides a satisfaction guarantee against defects or damage during shipping, but no specific warranty period.

Overall, it’s a nice product. It’s built well, is a great size for a road trip or kicking around the office, and the ability to have one custom engraved is an added bonus they provide on their website.
